ART MANIFEST
My artistic practice is a process of sowing seeds, using images and sound to craft mixed-media installations that are both evocative and thought-provoking. I constantly question our modern times, delving into the complexities and contradictions of contemporary life. I believe we are the ancestors of the future, and with that in mind, I tell stories that are rooted in reality yet infused with elements of fiction from the plays I sometimes write. These narratives are designed to resonate deeply, sparking reflection and dialogue.
Transmission, Heritage, Africa, and Identity are the cornerstones of my inspiration. I am deeply concerned with the legacy we leave behind and the marks we make on the world. My art speculates about the "future present," examining the footprints we leave with each moment. Consequently, my entire artistic practice revolves around documenting the future and its aftermath through sound and visuals, capturing the essence of our collective journey.
I create immersive spaces because I believe art is a weapon of massive construction and reparation. The true power of art lies in its ability to evoke the sensitive and the emotional, to touch hearts and minds, and to inspire change. Through my visual poetry, I aim to construct a future where dignity, respect, and understanding prevail, particularly for those whose voices have long been marginalized.
More often my art is a profound expression of my unwavering commitment to women's dignity, with a special emphasis on the experiences and struggles of black women. Through my work, I fight for their recognition, respect, and representation, using my creative voice to shed light on their stories, challenges, and triumphs.
Art is not just a medium; it is a catalyst for transformation. By addressing serious topics and telling vivid stories, my work strives to make a meaningful impact, fostering a deeper connection to our shared humanity and a greater appreciation for the diversity of our experiences.
